How to Fix a Name Mismatch in AWS Training and Certification
A wrong name in AWS Training and Certification can block exam check-in and mislabel your transcripts. Here's how to update your profile and get support before test day.
Name mismatches in AWS Training and Certification are one of the most avoidable blockers for certification candidates. The profile name you use when you register for an exam is the name that appears on your certification transcript, digital badges, and score reports. If it doesn't match the government-issued ID you present at check-in, the proctor can refuse to start your exam.
Why AWS requires a legal name
AWS Training and Certification uses your legal first and last name as the credential identity. Test delivery partners such as Pearson VUE and PSI enforce ID policies at check-in. A shortened name, nickname, or misspelling can invalidate the entire exam attempt.
Correct the name before exam day
1. Sign in to **AWS Training and Certification** at aws.training.
2. Select your name in the top navigation, then open **Profile**.
3. Edit the **First name** and **Last name** fields to match the primary ID you will use at the test center or online check-in.
4. Confirm the name exactly matches the ID, including spacing, hyphens, and diacritics.
5. Save the profile update.
If the fields are read-only, your account may be linked to an employer, AWS Partner Network, or institutional SSO. In that case, contact your administrator first, then open a case with AWS Certification Support if the update still isn't possible.
When you need AWS Certification Support
For legal name changes, locked profiles, duplicates, or an exam that is already scheduled, create a case in the AWS Certification Support dashboard. Choose **Certification Account/Profile Update** and include:
The incorrect name on the account.
The correct legal name.
A copy of a government-issued ID or legal name-change document.
Your AWS Certification account email.
AWS support typically responds within one to two business days. If your exam is sooner than that, contact the exam delivery provider as well and be prepared to reschedule if the name cannot be corrected in time.
After you pass
Update the profile before claiming badges or sharing your transcript. The name on your AWS Certification transcript is generated from the Training and Certification account, not your AWS billing account. If a badge has already been issued through Credly, you may also need to edit your name there so recipients see a consistent credential identity.
