Certified AI Practitioner? Here’s Your AWS Cloud Practitioner Study Plan

Your AI certification already gave you the hard part—model thinking. Cloud Practitioner is just a new vocabulary. Here’s the 2–4 week plan that works.

The Certified AI Practitioner credential proves you can work with ML pipelines, model endpoints, and data. That’s the hard part. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner asks for something different: breadth, not depth.

It feels overwhelming because the Cloud Practitioner exam is a vocabulary-heavy tour of 100+ services. But you already have the mental model. You understand APIs, inference, storage, and security boundaries. Now you need to map those concepts to AWS product names and pricing basics.

Why the jump feels harder than it is

AI Practitioner taught you how to reason about systems. Cloud Practitioner tests whether you can recognize the right AWS service for a use case and explain basic cloud economics. You are not starting from zero.

Use this mapping to lower the cognitive load:

The 2–4 week study plan

Week 1: Cloud concepts and core services

Start with the free **AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials** course. It is the closest thing to a syllabus. Watch it at 1.25x and take notes only on service categories and use cases.

Cloud computing models: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS

AWS global infrastructure: Regions, Availability Zones, edge locations

Core services: EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda

Week 2: Billing, pricing, and support

This is where AI practitioners often stumble. You don’t need to calculate complex invoices. You need to know:

Free Tier limits and what is always free

Pay-as-you-go, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans

AWS Support plans: Basic, Developer, Business, Enterprise

Trusted Advisor and AWS Budgets

Week 3: Security and compliance

Focus on the **Shared Responsibility Model** and **AWS Well-Architected Framework**. These are heavily tested.

Security of the cloud vs. security in the cloud

IAM users, roles, and policies at a high level

Compliance programs: SOC, ISO, HIPAA, PCI DSS

DDoS protection with Shield and WAF

Week 4: Practice exams and gap review

Use one current practice exam set. Do not chase outdated dumps. The real exam is easier than most third-party tests but worded differently.

Take a timed 65-question practice test

Review every wrong answer and write a one-line correction

Re-take only the missed topics, not the full course

What to stop doing

**Do not deep-dive into VPC routing or IAM policy syntax.** Cloud Practitioner is not Solutions Architect Associate.

**Do not memorize pricing tables.** Understand pricing models, not exact numbers.

**Do not build a production app just for this exam.** A small sandbox is enough if you need tactile memory.

If you learn best by doing, use a lightweight cloud sandbox to create an S3 bucket, launch a free-tier EC2 instance, and inspect IAM roles. Sapior’s ephemeral environments work well for this because you can iterate without leaving a trail of forgotten resources.
