AWS Cloud Practitioner in 2 Weeks: A Tight, Realistic Prep Plan

A two-week plan for AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner CLF-C02: the domains to prioritize, practice exam strategy, and what to skip when time is compressed.

The two-week reality check

Most people don't fail CLF-C02 because cloud is hard. They fail because they try to memorize 200 services. The exam tests four domains: Cloud Concepts (24%), Security and Compliance (30%), Technology (34%), and Billing and Pricing (12%). Two weeks is enough if you focus on the 80/20.

Week 1: Build the skeleton

Days 1–3: Core services

Use AWS Skill Builder's free AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials course. Stop at 1x speed. Focus on EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, and Lambda. Write one line for each service in your own words.

Days 4–5: Security and billing

Review the AWS Shared Responsibility Model, IAM policies, AWS Organizations, Cost Explorer, Budgets, and the Free Tier. These are high-yield because security and billing can be 42% combined.

Day 6: First practice set

Take 30–50 questions from Tutorials Dojo or Whizlabs. Review every explanation, even questions you got right. This is not a mock exam; it is a feedback loop.

Week 2: Sharpen and simulate

Days 7–9: Weak areas

Use the practice set results to target gaps. Common weak spots: support plans, CAF, Well-Architected Framework, and services like CloudFront, Route 53, SQS, and SNS.

Day 10–11: Full practice exams

Take two timed CLF-C02 practice exams under exam conditions. Target 80%+ consistently. Review every wrong answer and create a one-page silly mistakes list.

Day 12: Light review and logistics

Skim the AWS exam guide, re-read your one-pagers, and schedule the exam for the morning if possible. Check Pearson VUE or PSI system requirements if taking online.

What to skip

Skip deep dives into Kubernetes, serverless architectures, or any service that has not appeared in your practice exams. CLF-C02 is a foundational exam, not a solutions architect pre-test.

Final numbers

Aim for 10–14 hours per week. That is roughly 90 minutes a day plus one longer weekend block. Two weeks is tight but workable.
